Lious L'amour remains so popular because few authors can tell a tale quite like he could. Its like sitting around a campfire listening to an old timer spin a yarn. If you've never read him, this is a good start

Ride 'em, Cowboy!

If you, like myself, enjoy reading vivid, well-written and believable tales of the Old West, then you're sure to find High Lonesome a mighty fine yarn that certainly holds one's attention right through to its gripping ending.

Written in 1962 by famous "Western" novelist, Louis L'Amour, High Lonesome's ruff'n'rugged story concerns cowboy/outlaw Considine who's determined to retire from a life of crime - Only to find something even more dangerous to live for.

High Lonesome is a hard-hitting, uniquely American tale of raw courage, haunting regret and second chances. It is told as only Louis L'Amour could possibly tell it.

Throughout his life (1908-1988), L'Amour wrote 90 novels and 26 short-story collections, all of which fell mostly into the genre of the "Western", or "Frontier Fiction" as L'Amour liked to call his stories.

Considered to be one of the world's most popular writers, Louis L'Amour certainly had an amazing talent for capturing the rugged feel of the Wild West in so many of his works.
