This tyranny has caused and today is still causing an amount of pain and suffering that can only be compared with that which resulted from centuries of tyranny by white humans over black humans." Written with gusto, this book really sets out to destroy excuses and to convince the reader of becoming a vegetarian or even a vegan. Lots of source notes, but they're rather dated now (couldn't he get a research assistant?).
One of the odd things that I noticed, but was not made a big deal of, was that a Veterans Administration Hospital spent million of dollars to zap mice (if I remember rightly). Shouldn't they have been spending that money on caring for ill and dying veterans, or at least research relevant to helping people like them, rather than obvious, trivial, or useless things? I wonder how money is wasted on what is basically a make work spending programs for experimenters.

Although this book is dated, the inforamtion still paints a good picture for the current state of humanity and their prejudices towards animals.
