I was a little too old for TMNT when it hit big, so I saw this for the first time with my son. While an essential part of 90s pop culture, it's pretty bad. It's most notable for Jim Henson's creature work, and it was the last film he worked on before his untimely death. While plenty goofy, it is a little more violent and darker than the cartoon, perhaps in an effort to rope in older kids. Corey Feldman voices one of the turtles, and M.C. Hammer contributes a song, but he's upstage by Partners in Kryme "Turtle Power." Followed by 2 sequels and a reboot. Oh, look for a young Sam Rockwell as one of the "punks."
