In the midst of the Depression, folks need a lift. The Texas Star herself, Miss Lily Dare, is bringing her Dare Devils Flying Circus to Darling, Alabama. Unfortunately, she's also bringing a whole lot of trouble. As the Texas Star barnstorms into town, Liz Lacy and Verna Tidwell offer to help bring down a saboteur who may be propelled by revenge.
Barnstorming in the 30's was always a thrill to watch, more so when the daring Texas Star and her acrobatic aerialist performed at the Darling Watermelon Fair! A real glimpse of coping in hard and thrifty times. And by now we know the players, all members of the Darling Dahlias Garden Club, who seem like comfortable old friends we get to know a little better.

hard book to get into. very slow. Nothing happened for the first 1/3 of the book. It's hard to keep going.
