Produced in 2014, this animated anthology contains five animations adapted from short stories by Edgar Alan Poe.
Narrated by a different actor, each story apears with somewhat different texture, but fails to creat fear and horror as the original does.
I'm disappointed.

Director Raul Garcia brings five Edgar Allan Poe stories to life in this thoroughly enjoyable collection which employs a variety of rich animation techniques set to an orchestral score. A crumbling mansion mirrors the madness of its inhabitants in "The Fall of the House of Usher" narrated by the late Sir Christopher Lee and looking like a construction paper pop-up book. A scratchy recording of Bela Lugosi reads "The Tell Tale Heart" in a presentation which borrows heavily from the edgy black & white illustrations of Alberto Breccia. Death takes a macabre turn in "The Facts in the Case of M. Valdemar" rendered like a pulp comic book. And finally, the gothic horror of "The Pit and the Pendulum" comes across as a split-screen X-Box game while Poe’s rumination on human vanity in the face of mortality is rendered in glorious art deco swirls in "The Masque of the Red Death". Loosely tied together by pithy exchanges between Poe, here reincarnated as an obstinate Raven, and Death as a demure graveyard stele, this is storytelling of the highest order. Poe would have been proud.

I really enjoyed all these stories by Poe in their animated form. Great visuals combined with the narration offered something just in season for Halloween. Greatness!

What a wonderful collection of Poe's stories....nicely animated and narrated by some legends, directed with perfection

I was looking forward to this animated Poe compilation, but even though the artwork was good , it somehow missed the mark for me. It wasn't quite made for kids, and not quite for adults. 'Tweens', maybe? I dunno.
