This second book in the Clare Fergusson series was overflowing with current issues, suspects for various crimes, and collateral damage caused by the scheming bad guys. Clare does not always choose wisely in her reactions to the situations in which she finds herself, and she has difficulty convincing Russ Van Alstyne that she has gathered pertinent information and that her approach to dealing with the bad guys is correct. She pulls rank on him at one point in order to pull off her solution to a problem. He tricks her into letting him get her out of another situation. There are page turning cliff hangers and hiding in the bathroom comedy, as well as suspects we don't suspect and several surprises in the solution.
